earning credits through hockey

MECC has been approved to be a licensed Hockey Canada Skills Academy. We were the first secondary school in the region to offer this unique hockey program. Students participate for 125 hours of hockey development which includes 75 hours of ice time (2 days a week) and 50 hours of off ice time (instruction and floor hockey) through credits Grade 11 PAI3O and Grade 12 PAL4O. MECC’s Hockey Credit helps students who play competitive hockey while in Thunder Bay and it also offers students the opportunity to take leadership roles on and off the ice for extra credit. Instruction comes from our MEC teacher who is a certified hockey coach as well as guest coaches. Our Hockey Credit is open to MEC students of all abilities and all equipment is provided so there is no additional costs for students.
